C-C Rocky ABCA 356747
Country: USA
Submitted by: Owner, Wendy Jewell
Was not BAER tested as far as I'm aware of (second owner)
Was BAER tested at 7 years old, bilateral.
Additional information:
I suspect he started losing hearing around 4 to 5 years old, now looking back on behavioral issues. His eyes was examined in 2014 with now issues but am now suspecting my concerns was hearing and not sight.
A sibling to Rocky was also confirmed bilateral deaf by BAER only a a few weeks prior to his diagnosis and Rocky's sire has also gone deaf last year (as per the breeder). Rocky has sired two litters prior to his diagnosis or suspicions of EOD, puppy owners have been contacted/reached out to after the diagnosis. As of right now, one puppy owner who owns 2 of Rocky's offspring, will continue to breed his offspring for now.
Update January 2021: Information provided by Rocky's breeder, Carrilea Littleford Wilson, has tested Rocky's sire, Gus, through Optimal Selection and received CLEAR results for Gus. Carrilea claims Gus has gone deaf after an incident of heat exhaustion/heat stroke. While we cannot confirm this is the definitive reason of Gus going deaf (not diagnosed by a board certified veterinarian), this is the only information I (admin) have to share.
Update March 2021: I got an e-mail in January from a Taylor H. letting me know their dog, name and pedigree unknown, who came back At Risk. The sire to the dog is named C-C Petie who they let me know is a littermate (or sibling from a repeat breeding) to C-C Rocky. Below is a copy+paste from a part of the e-mail I received. I am only posting this now as I had been hoping they would reply to one of my 2 e-mails in January but I never heard back so we will never know the other half of that dog's pedigree.
"I just got the test results back for my dog who is At Risk with two copies of the variant for EOAD. He has shown no symptoms, but I had him tested through Optimal Selection.
He has C-C Petie on his papers who is a full brother to C-C Rocky that is on your weebly page."
